"Das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Rationalität und Sinnlichkeit ist es, das Senta Connert am traditionellen Handwerk des Webens faszinieren. Das Verweben unterschiedlicher Inhalte, Zeiten, Ebenen und Techniken durchzieht ihr Werk wie ein roter Faden. 1990 kombinierte sie erstmals den sechsteiligen spätmittelalterlichen Gobelinzyklus „Die Dame mit dem Einhorn“ (Musée de Cluny, Paris) mit dem Etikett der Hemden- und Blusenfirma Einhorn. Thema dieser Bildteppiche sind die fünf Sinne, die im sechsten Gobelin „A mon seul désir“ ihre Zusammenfassung finden. Mit weißem Faden webt Connert diese Widmung in einen schwarzroten - die Farben der Firma Einhorn - Wandteppich ein. Rainer Maria Rilkes Text „Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge“, in dem die Gobelins beschrieben werden, die mittelalterlichen Bildteppiche selbst und die Fabrikationswege der Hemdenfabrik Einhorn sind die Elemente, mit denen die Künstlerin immer neue Arbeiten schafft, alte Werke mit neuen Ansätzen verwebt. Auf strenge minimalistische Weise zeigt sich ihr Hang zu Textilem und Stofflichem in der Arbeit „Millimeterpapier“: Das Millimeterpapier, das strengste Genauigkeit für sich beansprucht und mathematischen Grundregeln folgt, scheint in der klassischen Handarbeitstechnik des Webens, die ebenfalls höchste Präzision erfordert, eine adäquate aber materialfremde uns dadurch sinnliche Umsetzung gefunden zu haben ... "

"It is the suspense-packed relationship between sense and sensibility why Senta Connert is fascinated by the traditonal craft of weaving. The intertwining of different contents, epochs, levels and techniques is the guide-line of her work. In 1990 she first combined the late medieval series of six tapestries "The Lady with the Unicorn" (collection of the Cluny Museum, Paris) with the label of the Einhorn (Unicorn) Company - producers of shirts and blouses. The subject of these five tapestries are the five senses, which find their synopsis in the sixth gobelin entitled: "A mon seul désir" (to my only desire). Connert weaves this dedication with white thread on a black and red tapestry - the colours of the Einhorn Company. Rainer Maria Rilkes‘s text "Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge" which contains a description of the six gobelins, the medieval tapestries themselves and the fabricaton process of the Einhorn Company are elements the artist uses to create new works: old pieces interweaved with new imports.

In an austere minimalistic way, she demonstrates her inclination to texture and fabric in her piece entitled "Graph Paper". The "Graph Paper", which requires absolute accuracy and which follows fundamental mathematic rules seems to have found an adequate - with non-typic material and thus sensual - transpose in classical manual labour which too, requires high precision ... "
